Day 1 – Arrival / Nairobi National Park
On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be met by our representative, given a short safari briefing and transferred to your lodge, ideally located on the edge of Nairobi National Park. The park is Kenya’s oldest, and surprisingly, exists on the edge of a city of over 4 million people. If you arrive to the lodge late, the staff will have a dawa (signature cocktail) and light meal waiting. Retire for the night to rest from your journey. Overnight The Emakoko Lodge (D)
Day 2 - Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
After breakfast, meet your driver guide who will transfer you to the nearby Wilson Airport (be sure to pop in for a coffee and some great shopping in the boutique above the departure lounge). Board a light aircraft to your next destination, the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. On arrival at the Lewa Downs airstrip, your safari guide will be waiting to take you to Lewa Wilderness Lodge. Arriving at the lodge, you will be greeted with an ice-cold drink and a refreshing face cloth to wipe away the drive’s dust before being shown into your luxury cottage. This afternoon, explore the grounds, take a dip in the pool or simply relax in the privacy of your cottage as you wait for the afternoon heat to subside before heading out on your first evening game drive. Lewa is famous for its rhino population, beautiful landscapes, marshy swamps and a wide variety of wildlife, including the Northern Species (Somali ostrich, Reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk, and Grevy’s zebra). After what promises to be a successful game drive, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Overnight at Lewa Wilderness (B, L, D)
Days 3 & 4 – Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
These two full days will be spent in the Lewa Conservancy with morning and afternoon game viewings, plus other included activities. The conservancy offers day and night game drives in 4x4 WD vehicles, escorted bush walks, horse riding, game viewing up-close from secluded blinds, camel treks, incredible bird watching, educational talks on the conservancy and anti-poaching efforts, walking safaris, cultural visits with local communities and swimming. An optional visit to the Ngare Ndare Forest on the foothills of Mount Kenya is highly recommended. Lyndsay ranks this as one of her favorite activities in Laikipia! Day 5 – Depart for the Masai Mara / Mara North Conservancy
After an early breakfast, depart for the airstrip to board your light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara. Your safari guide will meet you on arrival at the airstrip and transfer you to camp for lunch. Relax this afternoon, overlooking the river and its wildlife, before departing on your exclusive game drive in the private Mara North Conservancy. Overnight Ngare Serian Camp (B, L, D, Dr)
Days 6 & 7 – Mara North Conservancy
Rise early each morning to explore the Mara North Conservancy, a private wilderness area that forms the north-western zone, bordering the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The world-class conservancy is a partnership between a few member camps and over 800 Maasai landowners that guarantees an exclusive safari, while minimizing the impact on the environment and local communities. Throughout the year, large numbers of herbivores such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, Thomson’s gazelles and impalas seek water and grazing in the area. You can also choose to experience other activities including guided bush walks, river fishing, sun downers, picnic and bush dinners, visit the organic ‘shamba’ that produces the veggies for the camp, or camp out at the “Nest” for an overnight sleep-out you will never forget!
Back at the camp, dinner is served family-style around a large table, giving you the perfect opportunity relive the highlights of your day over your favorite drink. Don’t forget to look up, too, the night sky is breath-taking here.
Overnight at Ngare Serian Camp (Game Package)
Day 8 – Depart / Nairobi
After breakfast, bid Ngare Serian farewell and transfer to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Nairobi. You will be welcomed by our representative at the Wilson airport and a driver who will transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for your outbound travel. Depending on your international departure time, Amani can arrange for a day room and dinner before your departure. Note: NBO requires a strict 3-hour advance check-in for international departures. The new airline lounge is open for elite mileage holders and First Class travellers, complete with showers, wifi, hot food and beverages.
