Day 1 – Arrival / Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, after clearing customs and Immigration formalities you will be met and transferred to your luxury lodge located just outside of Arusha on a working coffee farm. As it will be after sunset on your arrival, you’ll just have to wait until dawn to glimpse the impressive views of Mt Meru outside of your suite. Overnight Legendary Lodge

Day 2 – Tarangire / Little Chem Chem

After breakfast, meet your guide and depart for your first safari experience on Chem Chem’s private concession between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park. Little Chem Chem, an intimate tented camp, has 16,000 hectacres of private wilderness reserve for just 10 guests. The camp is surrounded by the characteristic landscape of the Tarangire River with its impressive baobab trees, and overlooks freshwater Lake Burunge. The Babati mountain range offers a magnificent backdrop to the south-west, with the distant hills of Tarangire visible to the north-east.

On arrival settle into your tent and explore your new surroundings you before enjoying a light lunch. After the heat of the day wanes, head out on a game drive into Tarangire National Park or explore the private concession area, where night game drives are allowed and you may be able to spot a variety of nocturnal species on your return to camp.

Little Chem Chem offers five exquisitely decorated tents, each with a large bedroom (three have king-size beds, two offer twin beds), with a rocking chair and study desk, a vanity area with dressing room and an en suite bathroom with a shower and flushing toilet. Embracing an ‘Out-of-Africa’ atmosphere each tent also offers a private fire pit with flames that mesmerize you as the sounds of the African night come to life around to you. Overnight at Little Chem Chem (B, L, D, Dr)

Days 3 & 4 – Chem Chem Concession / Tarangire National Park

Over these next two days, explore the camp’s private concession and venture into the elephant-filled Tarangire National Park (over 1,615 square-miles). The park is arid – except for the Tarangire River - and studded with giant termite mounds and baobab trees. During the dry season, you can witness massive herds of elephant, some reaching as many as 500 in number, and many other migratory species that gather around the water sources. When the rains arrive, usually in November, the animals disperse, and the park’s swamps come alive with bird life.

Spend as much time as you like in the park or concession and return to camp at your leisure. Overnights at Little Chem Chem (B, L, D, Dr)

Day 5- Lake Manyara / Gibb’s Farm

Bid farewell to Little Chem Chem and depart with your guide for a morning game drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara National Park is small compared to Tanzania’s other parks - at only 130 square miles, it fits neatly between the lake and the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. This park is often overlooked and underrated, but this gem was described by Ernest Hemingway as ‘the loveliest place I have ever seen.’ The shallow alkaline lake is often dotted with resident flamingos, and whatever the park lacks in size it makes up for in diversity. Apart from the lake and the many lions that roam the park, there is an expanse of tropical jungle filled with troops of baboons, monkeys and other rainforest residents. Large herds of buffalo and zebras wander the plains, and in the distance, are the ever-present peaks of Tanzania’s volcanoes.

After your private game drive in LMNP, continue up the Escarpment and into the verdant Ngorongoro Highlands on the outer slopes of the Crater, en route visit a school that a portion of proceeds from your safari helps to support. Reach Gibb’s Farm just as the sun begins to set, giving you enough time to enjoy a cold drink or a hot cup of coffee as you take in the breathtaking views. Settle into your farm cottage on this historic 1920s coffee plantation, and end the day with a gourmet meal prepared with organic ingredients straight from the farm. Overnight at Gibb's Farm (B, L, D)

Day 6 – Ngorongoro Crater

This morning, kick start your day with a cup of organic Arabica coffee, grown and roasted on the farm and a full breakfast before departing for the Ngorongoro Crater. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ngorongoro Crater is the largest dry, intact volcanic caldera in the world, measuring approximately 20 kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area. The high walls of the crater itself, serve as a natural enclosure for an abundance of wildlife. There is a large resident population of game – and the Crater offers the very real chance of being able to see the ‘Big Five’ in one day.  Among the notable birds are Lammergeyer, Vereaux's Eagle and Egyptian Vulture, which make their home along the rim of the crater wall, the beautiful Rosy-breasted Long claw, which appears on the plains after rains and flocks of lesser and greater flamingos which are spasmodic visitors to the crater lakes that form seasonally in the bottom of the caldera. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the middle of the day.

Return to Gibb’s Farm at leisure or, if you are weary, return in time to explore the gardens and enjoy tea time with fresh-baked cakes and pastries on the patio of the main farm house building. Overnight at Gibb's Farm (B, box lunch, D)

Day 7 – Grumeti Game Reserve

Savor coffee on your private verandah overlooking the forest or the coffee plantation, before departing on the short drive to the Manyara Airstrip. Say goodbye to your driver guide and board your scheduled light aircraft flight to the private Grumeti Reserve on the western side of the Serengeti National Park. On arrival at the Grumeti airstrip, you’ll be met by your guide and vehicle and transferred to Singita Faru Faru, game driving en route. The camp is built on a gently sloping hill overlooking a seasonal riverbed not far from the Grumeti River and the plains. Rest from the flight and enjoy a signature Singita lunch, before heading out on your first game drive. The Grumeti Game Reserve covers 2,000 square kms of area and is part of the greater Serengeti-Masai Mara ecosystem. Located along the North western border of the Serengeti, the wildebeest migration usually passes through Grumeti between June and October on their way to and returning from Kenya.  Singita Faru Faru Lodge (B, L, D, Dr)

Days 8 & 9 – Grumeti Game Reserve

Spend two full days searching for game in the expansive Grumeti Reserve, all while enjoying the magic of Singita’s Faru Faru Camp. Cool, early morning game drives are ideal for catching animals at their most active, or you may choose to relax in the camp with a spa treatment or at with a book in the beautiful living area just waiting for game to pass by. Head out again in the late afternoon, with the hope of spotting the reserve’s Big Five, and myriad predators and prey. Overnight at Singita Faru Faru Lodge (B, L, D, Dr)

Day 10 – Grumeti / Arusha / Departure

After breakfast, game drive to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Arusha. On arrival at Arusha’s regional airport, meet your driver and head just a few minutes’ drive to the Arusha Coffee for a special lunch. After lunch, visit the Shanga glass workshops and learn about efforts of this wonderful organization. The aim of Shanga is to provide full time employment and training to physically challenged Tanzanians through the design and creation of unique glass wares and beads.  Depending on your international flight departure time, meet your driver and transfer across Arusha to the Kilimanjaro International Airport.
